With Spamilton: An American Parody recently extending its run at the theatre, the Menier Chocolate Factory today announces initial casting for their major revival of Hugh Whitemore’s Pack of Lies. Hannah Chissick directs Finty Williams as Barbara Jackson and Jasper Britton as Stewart. The production opens on 1 October, with previews from 20 September, and runs until 17 November. It’s been a while since we last shared a roundup of the news, but there’s been a lot that has caught our eye this past week and, well… sharing is caring!
So, without further ado, here’s our favourite news from the past week.
I’m a relatively new convert to Shakespeare. Going to an all-boys secondary school in the mid-nineties there was very little focus on arts subjects and it put me off the bard for a long time. Even when I finally started going to see productions of Shakespeare’s plays I was wary of the Royal Shakespeare Company. These were the protectors of the canon and surely would be the toughest to truly appreciate!
